    Before the process of washing the sarees with soap, keep the saree soaked in salt water for a time.
    However, they must not be kept soaked overnight. Soaking for a long duration can result in discolouration.
    After soaking rinse the saree well with cold water for two to three times a day. This must be done before you are using the detergent.
    You can invest in nice quality detergents that are mild in nature because these detergents handle the sarees well.
    Do not let the soap stay long in the attire, wash it quickly.
    You should stop bundling up the saree because they can become wrinkled and creased.
    The brushes must not be used because they may ruin the fabric.
    You can use cold water to wash the sarees.  Hot waters can be damaging to the delicate material.
    Do not wash the rich looking saree in the washing machines.


How to eliminate the stain in the handloom saree?
    If there is an oily stain in the saree put some talcum powder in it wait for it to soak in it.  After that you can take the powder of.
    For the stain of food or other beverages dip a cotton ball in petrol and wipe it.

The drying of the handloom saree requires patience and time.

    You have to avoid direct sunlight for it can result in discolouration of the material. You can dry it in shady places.
    The saree must never be wrung or squeezed for it can be damaging to the saree.
    Wrap the saree in tidy and neat tissues and towels to take out the water.
    The saree must be spread on flat surfaces for they cannot be hanged in drying ropes like the other dresses.
    The saree must be put to dry separately.  The garments with receding colour can affect the saree.

    The iron must be kept in a low heat to press the handloom saree.
    Do not spray water on the saree to press it as it can form permanent marks.
    The attire has to be kept on the neat ironing board on a thick cotton cloth for pressing.

·         The saree should be fully dry than only it is suitable for storing.
o   The saree has to be neatly wrapped in a muslin cloth or pure cotton which will allow the air to pass through and secures the saree from moisture.
o   The saree has to be stored in a dark and dry location to avoid the fading of the fabric.
o   The saree must be stored in a vertical position on your loft. Avoid using the metal hangers for hanging as they can rust on the fabric.
o   The saree must be kept apart from the regular clothes if you are going to store it for a longer time.
o   You can keep the neem leaves in the folds of the saree to secure it from the pests.
o   Change the folds of the saree to restrict the wear and tear of the saree.
